Multi-Agent Distributed Coordination of Project Schedule Changes

چکیده

This article shows a practical application for Distributed Coordination framework for Project Schedule Changes (DCPSC) wherein a project can be rescheduled dynamically through negotiations by all of the concerned project participants. This article presents the design and implementation of a multi-agent system called Distributed Subcontractor Agent System (DSAS), which consists of multiple subcontractor agents, multiple Graphic User Interfaces (GUIs), and an Agent Message Router. In the DSAS, subcontractors interact with their software agents to evaluate the impact of changes, simulate decisions, and get the negotiation results that they need to reschedule the project. This also presents the design and results of DSAS charrette tests, which demonstrated that DSAS produces the lower-cost results faster than manual centralized processes. DSAS can be useful for other domains, such as Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) coordination and workspace management, if the appropriate agents are designed.

CIFECENTER FOR INTEGRATED FACILITY ENGINEERING Compensatory Negotiation for Agent-Based Project Schedule Optimization and Coordination

This paper presents a formalized negotiation methodology for distributed project schedule optimization — a framework wherein a project can be rescheduled dynamically by all of the concerned project participants. The negotiation methodology is developed to allow agents to transfer utility to other agents for compensation of disadvantageous agreements through a multi-linked negotiation process, w...

CIFECENTER FOR INTEGRATED FACILITY ENGINEERING Compensatory Negotiation for Agent-Based Project Schedule Coordination

Practitioners have tried to solve a project schedule coordination problem involving many subcontractors with a centralized approach, but failed to provide a cohesive solution. They have overlooked a principle that general contractors cannot coordinate subcontractors like they do their own forces. The project schedule coordination problem could be solved better by subcontractors in a distributed...

An Integrated Multi-Agent Coordination Including Planning, Scheduling, and Task Execution

Traditional planning has been explored in depth. Most research is concentrated at a high level, e.g., developing coordination interaction protocols to be imposed on agents. There has been less concern about how the internal task structures of individual agents affect these higher-level coordination behaviors. When involving multiple participants, collaborative planning has been facing problems ...

Agent-based Electronic Markets for Project Supply Chain Coordination

We propose to develop a framework for agent-based electronic markets (e-markets) for project supply chain coordination, where subcontractors interact and transact with other subcontractors within supply-chain networks with the assistance of software agents. The e-markets for project supply chain coordination complements our agent-based project schedule coordination framework by applying the adv...
